About the Presenters

Mandy Chessell
Mandy Chessell CBE CFEng CENG FBCS is an IBM Distinguished Engineer, Master Inventor and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. Mandy is a trusted advisor to executive from large organizations, working with them to develop their strategy and architecture relating to the governance, integration and management of information. She is also driving IBM's strategic move to open metadata and governance through partnership in the Egeria open source project. She also serves ad the ODPi Technical Steering Committee Chairperson.

Cupid Chan

Cupid Chan is a seasoned professional who is well-established in the industry. His journey started out as one of the key players in building a world-class BI platform. Aside from holding various technical accreditations, his credential extends into business qualifications such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma and SAFe Agilist.

He is the Board of Directors, Technical Steering Committee (TSC) and the Champion of the BI & AI Project in ODPi, a nonprofit organization under Linux Foundation committed to simplification & standardization of the big data ecosystem with common reference specifications and test suites. His strong technical experience in planting Big Data implementation helps his client reaping indispensable business value in different industries.

He was also the Chairperson of Architecture and Co-Chair of Logical Data Model for The Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO) responsible for managing engineering disciplines, providing overall technical direction and supporting for all MISMO Products.

Andre de Waal

Andre is the Ecosystem Data Science and AI Learning University Programs Lead at IBM. As an accomplished academic and analytical consultant working with cutting edge machine learning techniques, he possess a unique set of skills to solve complex industry problems ranging from scorecard building and predictive modeling using neural networks to bridging the skills gap between academia and industry. During his tenure at North-West University in South Africa, he managed a data mining program, executed more than 20 industry-directed research projects at banks, telecommunications companies and credit bureaus, and led his own research group in machine learning. In his previous role at SAS, he engaged with faculty to incorporate SAS products into university curricula. Additionally, he trained faculty and students in SAS programming, data mining, text mining and machine learning. As part of his current research, he recently published a paper on random forests and presented it at SAS Global Forum.
